we arrived in Phnom pehn ar 13.00
First beer in Cambodia
We found a cheap place to eat before we walked to street 172 area where backpacker area was , we found a nice guest house called RS guest house we had 2 beds and it was clean and huge room molly decided to open a shop on her bed it was so big
Whilst here we visited the genocide prison s21 this was so hard to visit as it showed what happened I found it very disturbing
Here we met a survivor who signed his book for us his story is sad when you visit here bring tissues it’s not for the feint heartedThe national museum and the royal palce were great as the photos show
we had our first cambodian meal which was really tasty
On the last night the girls went to watch a traditional dance show whilst dad went to have a beer
After 3 days we caught the new train service to the south to kep
As you can see it’s a huge train
Here the girls are eating breakfast as the train leaves at 07.00 it runs only 3 days a week on Friday to Sunday but is cheap and for us better than a bus for a change
Once we arrived at kampot station we took a tuk tuk to the bus station to catch bus to kep As it was 5 km from here to far to walk in the heat , we caught the bus which took 40 mins to kep on a very bumpy road but we arrived at the beach front at kep and went in search for a room ,after 3 places we finally choose the boathouse it was run by a french man called Dominic it was very nice he gave us a large room for price of a small one but no air con we booked for 3 nights but to be honest there is not a lot to do here in kep it is dirty and run down
we rented a bike and went round the national park and visited a pepper farm and here they let us swim in there pool very kind of them ,molly loved it
We also went to the crab market which was not what we expected but we had a nice meal over the sea
The final day we caught a bus to Sihanoukville about 135 km about way to the west
After driving for about 3 hours we went past otres beach where where we wanted to stay so we asked driver to stop which he did and we saved ourselves a 10 km tuk tuk ride which was great
On otres beach road there are lots of accomadation at different prices so we tried a few and got a good price for 5 nights of 15 dollars and this was with a pool
Across the road there was a great Italian resturant owned and run by Italians with a great beach bar and sun beds which they let us use for free, they liked molly
They also own a few around otres which we tried I recommend a visit to any of them
Molly doing more homework this time using Chinese method of drawing
She wrote her name in Chinese as well we made pen from a tree old style
The last day we had to get up early to catch minivan to thailand and koh chang island, we went here ten years ago and can’t wait to go back to see what has changed
